Flashlights
I want to remember the little things in life with young children. They are so funny and so much happens that it's practically impossible to remember if you don't write it down somewhere. And I'm really bad at doing that!
Tonight I let the kids play with flashlights because it was a kind of gloomy/cloudy day so it was dark enough before it was bedtime. They had some fun and then got me to join in. We did shadow puppet stories and then acted like the flashlights were fire. We put them on our hands and saw that it turns our skin red so we hurried and blew out the fire on our hands. Then it turned into me sitting in between each child, holding both flashlights, one for each of them, and turning them on and off when they blow it or tap it. They would tap the top with a "match" and then blow out the "flame." It was fun and we were entertained for awhile and then, can you imagine, they started getting mad at each other as if they were real candles on their actual birthday cakes? It was funny and frustrating.
Tate would get mad and yell at Baylee when she would "light" his "candle." He would yank it from my hands and hold it possessively and say, "mine!" repeatedly to ensure Baylee understood. Then Baylee would get upset when Tate would blow her light out. "Oh! Ta-ate!" and throw herself back on the couch dramatically. Then it ended in bonking heads as they both try and blow them out and Tate being aggressive and turning it into a head butting contest like he always does. I love my kids! Pictures to come, hopefully soon, especially our Disneyland trip!
