BTW

Have I mentioned that Tate is crawling and Baylee is reading. Sort of. To both. Tate's crawl is not traditional. He's still never been up on his knees, really. He army style commando crawls. It gets him where he wants to be. He's getting into more and more now that he can move forward without having to do trial and error rolls around the whole room. I have to watch him a bit more closely now. He also says dad and dada. It's the sweetest thing ever! I'm also convinced that he's been saying mom since he was about five months old, though it's reserved only for when he's upset. I could've sworn he said "hi" the other day and "hat", when I gave him Baylee's hat to play with. It was probably just my imagination. He also had his first flu bug a couple days ago. Super fun. I felt so bad for him, still do:(. I was feeding him some cereal, he'd probably only had about 1/4 a cup when he just started spewin...

Violence

Image
It seems that my and Baylee's little chat about not killing people didn't take too well. I guess it has become more mild in the sense that she no longer says she's going to kill me. Now, it's just violence without the killing. The other day she was playing with some drumsticks, pretending they were her violin. I walked past her as she's "playing a song", and she said, "I'm going to cut you." It must sound worse reading it. It was not in a creepy, horror film kind of way. It was said in a joyous manner, teasingly, if you will. Even still, a little scary. Then, today, we were playing dominos, rather building towers and things with dominos. I didn't have enough for my tower because Baylee kept taking my tiles. She noticed this and said, "If you take my dominos, I'll punch you in the face." Again, in a joking sort of a way. Hopefully we'll pass this phase soon (and hope it is, indeed, a phase). I...

Say Yes

We spent the day in Orem running errands and what not. We are on our way home and Baylee tells us, "I want to go anywhere (somewhere) else." We told her we had to go to one more store by home. She let us know that she wants to go to the park. We discussed it briefly and told her we'd think about it. She persisted, like she does so we kind of ignored her. Then we hear, "Can you say yes, please?" We laughed. I think we are going to the park now because of that.:)

I just had a nice chat with Baylee about how we don't kill people or animals. It's killer how perceptive and observant little kids are. Especially Baylee! I had just laid her back down for bed and she wanted her light saver, sword thing in bed with her. I said, fine. As I was leaving her room and closing her door she said, "I'm killing you." By golly, can I get the "worst parent of the year" award over here? I desperately wanted to avoid it by saying, "that's nice, dear. Now go to bed." Me thinks that would've been easier. Instead I went and sat by her while we talked about it. I explained that we don't kill people. Ever. Or animals (generally speaking). Then she brought up the fact that it's on tv! What?! Here I thought we were so careful about what we watch while the kids are awake, apparently not careful enough! Hopefully she understands a little more now and I'm sure we'll have follow up conversat...

Growing Up

Image
I think it's safe to say that Baylee is officially potty trained!  I was afraid to tell anyone because I thought it was going to be this horrendous turn of events that would conquer me and I'd revert back to diapers.  That was luckily not the case for us!  It went SO well!  I can't believe it.  We just started last Thursday afternoon/evening.  She even woke up dry.  What the heck?  I'm so proud of her!  We only had one accident and that was on Thursday.  There was also the occasional waking up wet, twice I think.  She even tells us when she needs to go, even though we do ask her periodically, just to be safe.  Dustin has even taught her how to go through the whole process on her own.  She gets on the toilet, wipes, flushes and washes her hands.  I guess that was too quick for me because I usually go sit in the bathroom with her and help her along.  I feel like ever since her 3rd birt...

Today as we were driving home from church Baylee said, "Hey, I gotta get 5 so I can drive!" We had a good laugh. I told her nice try, not 'til you're 16. (if she's lucky and good, right?) Baylee and Tate love to play together! It's so sweet!
